Colors of the Year 2021
Are you thinking about updating a room in your home? Maybe you’d just like to add an accent color in accessories, art, pillows, etc. Learn what color combinations are going to be available in this latest blog entry. Peruse the various brands’ color forecast for 2021.
As usual, colors are all over the map again for 2021, but included in this entry are the three main brands we use as our compass for now and the future! This forecast is covering three major color predictors for the next year: Pantone, Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and we’re admittedly preferring Ben Moore’s choice this year. We’ll also include a few “lesser known” brands’ indicators. We’ll endeavor to wind through the myriad of predictions, and how colors we see (particularly in fashion) will influence our choices in decor hues throughout 2021 through the next decade.
Each institution predicts color selections in their own way:
- Pantone with Colors of the Year for 2021 (as they chose two colors.)
- Benjamin Moore with a Color of the Year for 2021 and a palette that complements this hue.
- Sherwin-Williams with a Color of the Year for 2021 and other palettes with related themes.
- Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year 2021
- PPG Colors of the Year 2021
- Behr Color of the Year 2021
- Farrow and Ball Colors of the Year 2021

In Feng Shui terms, yellow in general is related to health, and gray is associated with helpful people and travel. Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2021
Color of the Year is Urbane Bronze. It captures that simple sophistication for which every space is searching. Tap into nature with a hue whose warmth and comfort breathe down-to-earth tranquility.
Now more than ever, our homes have become the backdrop to our lives, reminding us that the moments worth cherishing have always been right in front of us. As we’re looking to create the ultimate retreat for reflection and renewal, we’re turning to a hue whose natural simplicity and nature-inspired energy cultivate a sense of calm from the ground up.
The trend for biophilia (love of life) continues to shape our spaces, proving that nature is never far away. Urbane Bronze might be a color rooted in nature, but it also has a unique ability to ground a room through organic appeal. Whether it’s accentuating window trims or accent walls, this warm hue draws from nature for a feeling of relaxation and serenity. It also works well with other biophilic elements including light-filled spaces and foliage.
In Feng Shui terms, brown gives a heavy and grounded/stable feeling. It symbolizes the depth and roots of trees and plants, and gives off the feeling that it’s classic: its been around for a long time, and it will be around in the future.

Farrow and Ball Color of the Year 2020
Farrow & Ball is a British manufacturer of paints and wallpapers largely based upon historic colour palettes and archives.
“The blues best suited to anchoring our homes in 2021 are cleaner tones like lively Pitch Blue, fresh Ultra Marine Blue, and the darker, inkier shades of Stiffkey Blue and Scotch Blue,” says Joa Studholme color expert for Farrow & Ball. “These uncomplicated shades feel familiar, and so they have a soothing effect in the home despite their cooler undertones.”The beauty of these colours also lies in their versatility, as Joa attests: “If you want a more formal and traditional look, try these blues with All White or Ammonite woodwork – this high-contrast look especially sings in well-lit spaces, but these blues also look wonderful in low light, where they feel richer and more luxurious.”
