Colors of the Year 2022 – Part II

If you are considering a color change in your home’s decor, then you’ve come to the perfect place! Today, we’ll peruse a few “lesser known” brands’ indicators. We’ll endeavor to wind through the myriad of predictions, and how colors we see (particularly in fashion) will influence our choices in decor hues throughout 2022 and beyond. If we had to choose a color by popularity alone, then it would be green- a grey-green like the ones Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and PPG have selected. Green hasn’t been in favor for quite some time, so it’s not too surprising that it has
started to cycle back to popularity when it comes fashion… and decor.
Each institution predicts color selections in their own way, but it’s safe to say, there is a heap of research that goes into those choices. On Feb. 27, we shared Color of the Year 2022 from:
• Pantone Color of the Year 2022
• Benjamin Moore Color of the Year 2022
• Sherwin-Williams Color of the Year 2022
Today, we share others:
• Dunn-Edwards Color of the Year 2022
• PPG Colors of the Year 2022
• Miller Paint Color of the Year 2022
• Farrow and Ball Colors of the Year 2022
Dunn-Edwards 2022 Color of the Year

This long-standing paint company is proud to announce the 2022 Color of the Year: Art and Craft (DET682). This hue is a warm and earthy color that brings forth feelings of stability and calm while allowing for a large range of play with creativity and change.

In Feng Shui terms, brown gives a heavy and grounded, stable feeling. It symbolizes the depth and roots of trees and plants, and gives off the feeling that it’s classic: its been around for a long time, and it will be around in the future.
PPG’s Color of the Year 2022

What does PPG stand for? Founded in 1883 as Pittsburgh Plate Glass in Pennsylvania. Today, PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, optical products, and specialty materials.
The Global forecast provides direction and inspiration to architects, designers and homeowners across the hotel, retail and residential markets. PPG customers in all business sectors rely on the forecast for new products and color specifications in the architectural, aerospace, automotive and consumer electronics industries. “Olive Sprig is a relaxed, but enticing green that emulates the feeling of soothing aloe vera or a fragrant plant – brightening any space with organic liveliness. A versatile color that lives well inside or outside, Olive Sprig blends in with nearly any environment. Olive Sprig is a midtone, neutral, lush green with an organic green undertone. It is a perfect paint color for any interior space.” (This description was taken from the PPG website.)

When considering Feng Shui, green evokes hope, development, family, tranquility, spring and growth. This muted hue has some grey in its nature, which can indicate some levels of frustration such as the conflict of black and white, thus re-establishing balance and resolving conflict. Interestingly, both Benjamin Moore and SherwinWilliams have selected a similar hue in the green palette.
Miller Paint Color of the Year 2022

Unexpected yet versatile, Desireé | 1219 — is a light orchid hue with touches of pink and gray. Suitable for many architectural styles, this color shifts and sways depending on what furniture and artwork with which it is paired.
